This post is being written from the Hyatt Regency Chicago, the host site for “Aging in America” the 2013 Annual Conference of the American Society on Aging. This is a professional gathering that takes place over 5 days and draws some of the country’s top thought leaders in the field of aging. This conference features over 700 sessions, workshops and other conference events showcasing the latest research, trends and strategies, best practices and tested models in aging. That’s a lot of content to select from!
That said, after just 2 days, I’ve already been able to attend a number of presentations and have follow-up discussions regarding hospital re-admissions, the changing role of government in the care of seniors, employees that are also caregivers and the challenges they face in the workplace, and the developing role of technology in assisting with the care and well-being of seniors. There is also the conference’s exhibition hall that features over 100 companies with solutions to augment all phases of aging.
I make it a habit to attend this conference every year because it enables me to make sure that Visiting Angels remains among the absolute best in delivering great home care services to care recipients and their families that we are so fortunate to serve. Once again, the conference has not failed to deliver on being worth the investment of time and money.
I made a personal commitment to tweet just a bit during the conference. However I continue to find myself so engaged in the information being disseminated and the follow up discussions, that so far I’ve only sent a few. Still plenty of time for more though! I’ll try to do better… tomorrow!
